Gather Feedback Often from your Students!
Provide feedback on assignments early in the course—as soon as you can. Make an extra effort the first few weeks. Give direct feedback, with more direction and help than usual. Use a mixture of assignments so you'll see what they do well and what they struggle with. One assignment I've used is an open and reflective journal entry that they only spend 25-30 minutes working on.
I also ask them for quick responses to these questions on a weekly basis.
These questions help us to focus on highlights, difficulties, and how we can improve. I also gain insights into what they’re learning as I respond to their questions.
